Dedicated Server Hosting

A dedicated hosting service, dedicated server, or managed hosting service is a type of Internet hosting where the client leases an entire server not shared with anyone. This is more flexible than shared hosting, as organizations have full control over the server(s), including choice of operating system, hardware, etc. Server administration can usually be provided by the hosting company as an add-on service. In some cases a dedicated server can offer less overhead and a larger return on investment. Dedicated servers are most often housed in data centers, similar to colocation facilities, providing redundant power sources and HVAC systems. In contrast to colocation, a dedicated hosting service provides system administration and owns the server itself.

This a more expensive basis for hosting a web site and is usually chosen by larger businesses were site secuity and/or flexibility of use or specialised software is required.

Reseller Hosting

Reseller hosting is a form of web hosting wherein the account owner may split up their alloted hard drive space and bandwidth and resell web hosting. Reseller hosting generally requires little knowledge of web hosting services in order to get started. Reseller hosts are generally not responsible for maintaining web server services, or other maintenance related tasks. This job is held by the owner of the dedicated server in which the reseller host is hosted.

This type of hosting is usually best suited to experienced operators who want to publish multiple websites or who design websites and prefer to also host them for their clients.

Australian Virtual Web Hosting

Virtual web hosting refers to the process of either name-based or IP-based, virtual web hosting running multiple “virtual” web servers on a single physical host computer. Using this technique, a single computer can host thousands of independent web sites.

Commercial web hosting service providers often use this technique to allow better manageability, efficiency and scalability of their service infrastructure.

Most web sites are hosted on this basis where they share a server with a number of other hosted domains
